Sep 02, 2006 · Posted September 2, 2006. Park #50 is a low viscosity (about 45 SUS at 100F) oil, with a flash temperature of about 285F. This is a very low viscosity oil, and is really suitable for cold (below 120F) quenching. I was not able to determine the speed of the oil, but suspect it is a fairly fast oil based strictly on the viscosity.

Duratherm 48 or DT 48 is it’s also known, is a replacement for Parks 50 but costs less. The oil is darker in appearance than Parks 50. Duratherm 48 has the same quench rate as Park’s 50 which is 7 to 9 seconds in the Nickle ball test. DT …

Jun 20, 2009 · 12,297. Jun 20, 2009. #5. AAA is the slowest of the three, works great for 01, L6, 5160, 52100, etc. Park’s 50 is the fastest, works great for W1, W2, 10xx (especially 1095, but 1084 doesn’t need as fast a quench). Tough Quench is in the middle, can work with all of the above but maybe not optimal. Would be great for 1084.
